· Have large, wide feet generating a large surface area
· They are light in weight

· They actually paddle across the water on their feet while holding their upper body above the water… very strange
Water Striders can walk on water
· They use their light weight and hydrophobic legs to remain above the water
o Hydrophobicity is the physical property of a molecule that is repelled from a mass of water
· They use surface tension to hold themselves up
